Bloomsburg Softball Downs Bucknell

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University softball team defeated Division I Bucknell University on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 2-0. It was the first match up between the schools since 1993. The win improves the Huskies overall record on the year to 19-6.
After both teams were held scoreless for the first three and a half innings, Missy Bachert (Coplay/Parkland) broke the scoreless tie with a solo home run to right field in the bottom half of the fourth. Bloomsburg added another run in the bottom of the sixth after Kayleen Sidisky (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) scored off a Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) single.
On the mound, Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) started the game for the Huskies, throwing three scoreless, hitless innings. Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) also shut down the Bucknell offense, going three innings while striking out five and allowing two hits. In the seventh, Sheelin Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) came on for the save and earned it after striking out Bucknell's Cassie Lloyd with runners on second and third with two outs.
The Huskies are back in action tomorrow when they visit Millersville for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
